Ok, so, my sound has stopped working.
First it was just my mic, i was playing MO, and met some people who wanted to use Mumble to keep in touch in game. Mine wouldn't work. I spent all night trying to get it to work, but apparently all sound that was supposed to be going to my speakers, was going through my mic. So, when i pressed the hotkey to talk, they would just hear my in game sounds and my music playing.
So, after trying unsuccessfully trying to fix it all night, i decided to just uninstall it, and try re-installing the drivers.
It's onboard sound, i am using a 680i LT SLI asus motherboard and the sound is realtek.
I really have no idea how to proceed here.
I've tried uninstalling the drivers and re-installing, and it doesn't seem to do anything.
When i reboot, i get a "found New Hardware" message, where it asks me to either have it search for a driver for a 'PCI Device" or to supply the driver. When i point it to the motherboard driver CD that the sound drivers are on, it tells me it could not install the software properly, and therefore my hardware may not work correctly.
Now i've gone into the bios to disable the audio so that i don't get a "Found New Hardware" message every single time i start up my computer.
Any tips?
Should i just go out and buy a new video card?
Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you may have had your mic plugged into the speaker port. That is the only way sound can come out of the mic unless there is something physically wrong with the sound card circuitry.
Based on the messages you are getting it sounds like your sound card circuitry is fried. (I've seen the same messages several times at work when some of my peripherals died).
I wouldn't advise buying a new video card... this will not fix your sound problem. If it were me, I would just buy a sound card. My last three motherboards have had integrated sound, but I've never used it, I prefer to use a better sound card. Right now I'm using SoundBlaster X-FI Titanium Pro PCI-E card. It is a much better quality sound card that any motherboard integrated card and has many more features.

Arg.. i was afraid of that. And i meant sound card, not video, har.
Sound isn't coming out of the mic, i just had changed the settings so i could play music through my mic in a chat room. So that the music i was listening to, was played in the room without me having to hold the mic up to my speakers.
I just played it, and it went right through the sound card.
But anyway, thanks for the reply, i'm going to go grab a new sound card and hope it works.
