Don't worry Khar. Right now all the betas I get invited to are for 1 hour once a week stress tests. It's not even worth it at the moment and I haven't even downloaded the client. Though I don't mind, I usually burn out before release when I get early access :/

Looks like Alpha 3 just started. I backed it so I could get in on Alpha.

Looks like they just opened up the world a bit so I may be jumping in a bit more to check it out again. I am seeing possible two day test sessions now instead of it being just an hour a few times a week.

They made it clear, no NDA, so we can certainly talk about it or even stream some.

Servers were up from Thursday through Sunday. Crafting and harvesting are online. Starting to look like a game.

Here is a choppy twitch video I did just to try and get basic armor and weapons on. Couple bits of PvP, pretty one-sided against me but its all good. Also one instance of getting killed while crafting, HAR!

They purposefully made everyone unarmed to start so that we would have to craft our weapons. It looks funny with the lack of weapon on my shoulder running around with my arm up, holding the axe that is not there.

Reminder, there is no NDA and these Alpha videos are allowed.

Current state of Crowfall: Alpha

Still not much to do outside of testing crafting mechanics and running around looking for fights with other players. I'll check in again in-game in the coming weeks to see if there have been any additional additions.

Big reveal today - they have replaced the archetype system with races and classes in the more traditional sense. You can see the charts here:

Two races stick out to my eyes as ones the Clan might gravitate to, but this is just my opinion obviously:

NETHARI
The Nethari look like they are somewhat modeled on the Irekei, but I would guess they made some effort to not copy so as to avoid trespassing on the intellectual property (still owned by a company in China). The difference is that Shadowbane Irekei disliked being thought of as elves, but here it is humans. Nonetheless, you be the judge:

"...the Nethari claim to be a separate race from man. By written tradition, it is said that Arkon, Lord of the Sun, choose one particular tribe of humans to rule all the others and, as proof of this, ensorcelled the blood of his chosen people with fiery breath stolen from Lyessa the Mother Dragon."

Then of course...

MINOTAURS

"...By legend, the Minotaur was created by the Prince Malekai, Lord of Shadows, in defiance of Prince D’Orion the Sky Hunter. As with all great creation stories, however, this is unproven and highly debated. What is known about this race of bull-headed savages is that they first appeared in written history as slaves to noble Elven families in the ancient High-Elf city of Aelfmuir."

Hmmm...the Minotaurs in Shadowbane were also former slaves of Elves, LOL. And I know some people will LOVE this part:

"While many believe that Minotaurs are incapable of sentient thought, this is not actually the case; however, they are unable to speak the Common tongue and speak in a guttural language that is understood only to others of their kind."

Interesting stuff!

That seems a lot more appealing. I wasn't very fond of the idea of archetypes.

I think a guild of assassins would play well with the Shadowclan name. Assuming assassins have a stealth ability. Once upon a time, hiding was a required skill. It'd be cool to go back to that sort of setup with mojoka and stealthers.

It might be a tough sell for some members though who are fiercely anti-elf / elf like things despite the Irekei branch.

Of course all that sort of hinges on the ability to use templar as healers which I'm not informed enough to judge the plausibility of. Otherwise it'd become a necessity to stick with a race that could take cleric if we were going to the typical one race thing. Half-giants might be good in that case.

Minotaur lore seems pretty good for Shadowclan, but their selection of classes seems limited.

As part of some rewards packages, players get to name Fallen Heroes and Fallen Monarchs to be used as part of the world's backstory as naming for landmarks, castles, etc.

K'Dahbruh, T'Berog, Nkurakarin, and Khalikryst will be immortalized in the stones of the dying worlds henceforth.
