Yeah, I had a hard time keeping up with you Akru. Your nuts!

The Starfire AA seems to be the most effective MAX. In second place is the quasar(?), or the Allaround maching gun MAX then in distant third is the AV MAX.

The AA MAX is useful everywhere and seems to do decent damage against vehicles and infantry. The quasar is effective at close range, and seems to do good damage to vehicles/AirCraft who are close and definately chews up infantry at close range.
The AV MAX just does not seem that effective. First, the damage done to vehicles does not seem to be that much more than I do with a Quasar MAX. The range on it is impressive, but is has a wide bloom and only hits consistently at medium and close range. It also has limited shots, a slower rate of fire and a long reload time. All that combine to make it the weakest of the MAX units IMO.

Anyone know the damage the AV shots do to armor versus the AA or Quasar?

I use the Starfire when attacking or defending outside of the bases, once we go grunt and are inside the base I use the Quaser and do a fairly decent job mowing down infantry. I don’t think I’ve killed anything using the Comet. But for the 1 additional point I decided to get the Unimax.

Hint: When using the Starfire try getting to the highest point possible, the higher you get the easier it is to get them libs at the ceiling and most time when you get that lib it’s 3 kills. I found getting on top of trees works well.

I’m going to drop the Comet and maybe pick-up special assault, medic or hacker. I want to be useful doing hot drops with that mushhed Krogs.

Since I am such a noob I have been expirementing alot with my template, I think I might stick with engineering or maybe go medical...But I find myself repairing machines more than people and well...people die really fast, Machines IMO are more valuable ...Just carry med packs IMO.

For a mere two cert points the Starfire is an awesome peice of kit. It can do the AA job just as the other AA MAXes. However, it can also take a Reaver head on which the other two AA MAXes have trouble with, and once you get the hang of aiming the non locked missles, infantry and non AV MAXes can be killed fairly easilly. Even AV MAXes, Buggies and lightnings although very dangerous to you, are not completely off your viable target list.

Don't discount the Comet, the circumstances where it shines are more rare than the other two VS MAXes, but it kills infantry better than the Starfire, it's fantastic against other MAXes, and can be usefull at taking shots at vehicles within the confines of a bases courtyard, or anywhere you can easilly take cover. Also, next patch it will do more damage against ground vehicles and other MAxes than it does now. One other small point in the Comet's favour is that it's fun to fire its weapon, the same satisfaction some of us were saying about the TR weapons over Vanu, I feel applies to the Comet.

Why does 100% have all these:

Standard ExoSuit 29 100%
Agile ExoSuit 29 100%
Standard Assault 29 100%

Why not un cert those to free up some points? Granted i don't know what im doing in PS, but the only cert i have right now is UniMAX...

You can't uncert standard or agile exo-suits, they don't cost certs.

Standard assault is required if you're going to have heavy assault, sniping, special assault, or anti-vehicle, so I'm sure a lot of people have it for one of those. You also start with this one certed, so some may not have un-certed it due to lack of concern.

Gorgok, here's your stats for your new character, as you can see you to are certed in those thing as well. The reason being they cost 0 certs and you get them automatically. Looking at your info, you also need to ask an invite to the outfit, try out all the equipment in the VR training room which will get you to BR4, and then come out and join the rest of us in the mayhem.

That list is out of date.

SgtOddball and GySgtKhashaan are both officers.

I guess planetside doesn't update in real time on its web pages.

Still an impressive list of clanners in game!

So what is the skinny on being an "officer". No offence, but they were really handed out rather secretly... and some are on/contribute far more than some that are on the big O list.

Errrrr from what I saw its just a privilige of being able to add other clanners into the squad.

They weren't picked for any reason other then they were online at the time and all upgraded. The main point is to be able to get any new online clanner into the outfit right away without waiting.

This being a very very lite branch of shadowclan i doubt there is need for ranks (at least at this time).

So no need to worry that others were made Nobs and you got skipped, there really isn't any nobs or warbosses or anything in planetside. Unless everybody wants to have structure like that? I don't see a need.

Officerships were made so that we would have enough people to invite new clanners when needed.

Basically Kdah said in-game, "So who wants to bother with inviting new people?"

Then people responded and BAM! they were officer material. Razz

I like the sound of Commanado make me one of those Razz

Although I played Planetside for over a year, I have never been in an Outfit until now. So, what do these titles mean in-game and what do they mean to us?

Also, I hope this isn't taken badly by anyone, but I would hope that only those very familiar with Planetside are the ones that actually lead us in battle and give out orders. I know we have a few people like that, so it shouldn't be a problem finding someone knowledgable to lead.

Do we have to bother with any formal structure?

Cant we just log in and listen to whoever has the big enough mouth at the time and is willing to use it to lead us?

However if we have to put someone in charge I request we do it in the sylte of an every man for himself knife fight.

I'm elder Krog, give your shinnies and bribes to me!

An all out knife fight would be fun to see though. If we squad up there is no grief points for killing eachother.

So how about a night where 20 of us all equip knives and go at it. Last man standing can have a mush hed title (errrr warboss) HAR!

I guess if we don't want a formal structure, no. However, if we all want to play together in a meaningful way then we kind of do. If we do as you suggest what will probably happen is that people will generally do their own thing and won't actually be playing together. Team orientated players will likely get bored with that and stop playing or play with another outfit. Soloist like myself will still be content, but will probably cease to group with other outfit members and disappear into the hills. The only reason to have an outfit at that point, is for another chat option.

I had an idea actually about this, that I think would be a good compromise. The outfit as a whole is as you suggest Parfug, log in do what you want basically. However, if certain members want to form more structured groups they can do so, and any member who wants to participate in that group will have to meet the leaders requirements and follow their orders when with that group.

For example someone wants to do orgainised Galdrops, they list that on the forums, say what roles need to be filled and what they expect characters to be certed in to accumplish the various roles. They give a night(s) they will be leading this group, players show up and join and then follow the leader's orders as a Grunt would do a Nob in other branches. If it becomes a regular and popular thing, then maybe it's made into a permanent unit (tribe) in the future. The key here is that no one is forced to participate, and the leader is free to exclude people that aren't willing to conform to their team/mission or whatever you want to call it.

Good idea to promote some people to be able to invite others into the Outfit.

Those invites into outfits slowly start to bore me, they always come the second I want to shoot something. Rolling Eyes

Standard Assault is the same base as Agile or Standard exo....your thinking of Medium Assault. Smile

So what is the skinny on being an "officer". No offence, but they were really handed out rather secretly... and some are on/contribute far more than some that are on the big O list.

For me it's log in, look at the outfit list....hmmm Officer....now on to important stuff, who's online and what are we killing.
