I'd hope so, keeping my eyes on this and my hopes up. I'm praying they add a PvP server.

I would not only support this game financially, but help create a branch. Vanilla DAoC was some of the most balanced/fun PVP I have ever played in any game.

When people started to heavily buff bot, map hack and acquire unbalanced artifacts is when I left that world.

WAR was a great experience at launch, for zone conflicts to work you needed a heavy stream of players actively doing world RVR... which just never happened. Servers dwindled and many became ghost towns as players/guilds started to migrate on there own to higher pop servers.

I really do feel third times a charm. I think he just had too many yes men on WAR.

No thanks. He didnt learn his lessons from DAoC when creating Warhammer and I am sure he still hasnt learned anything. Not going near anything with Mark Jacobs and PvP in the same paragraph.

Ya gruk it was him or EA? My shinies are on EA. Everything they control PvP wise turns to skah in my book.

EA ruins everything they touch, not just PvP online games.

EA has only been really really good at taking a game delivered to them by a development studio, and creating a recurring update marketing model.

- Assassin's Creed
- Call of Duty
- John Madden Football xxxx
- FIFA xxxx
- NHL xxxx
- NBA xxxx

they are game pimps

Activision does Call of duty, which is steadily going downhill (unless your a console gamer.. then up hill?) While EA does battlefield which is crap on consoles but amazing for PCs...

It all boils down to focus on profits and less focus on creating an entertaining game experience. A practice all these companies do now is DLC on disc, pay to unlock model, it just rubs me the wrong way and I tend to avoid titles like this even if it was a franchise I used to enjoy.

It is really hard to say if WAR would of been better without EA pushing them, I honestly feel that they did deliver so much of what users longed for with WAR and it really ended up being bad server management that drained that games lifeblood. No one likes logging into a ghost town, but on the flip side no one likes waiting an hour to play a game with over-populated servers.

During WAR development talking heads said over and over again that "EA leaves us alone", then after poo went down hill everyone was quick to point at EA and not the studio in charge of the game itself.

DAoC itself even ended up become something of a shell of what it once was, fixes too little too late. I liked alot of what DAoC had going on for it in the early days. Best items crafted, huge server wide raids on relics, class balance felt like actual class balance. SI introduced a fun class and a slew of nice sparkly weapons for you to work your way towards.. or not, it was your choice. Post TOA the only thing I did was thidranki because it still felt balanced, but even people managed to have buff bots in bg1... which is a terrible shame.

I would be willing to give them another try given how much I enjoyed DAOC, from their kickstarter page it seems they are focused on the right elements.

If someone in the guild wants to contribute $5K, we could have a shadowclan island...

It will be an RvR only game. No PvE that isn't RvR-oriented (which hopefully means assaulting NPC-manned keeps and outposts rather than monster-bashing to make some generic counter increase).

They say the game will focus on RvR, Crafting and Housing. Worth keeping an eye on at least.

I also am interested. I did love the early game when leveling to 50 took months to accomplish.

I tend to be a bit leery of Mark Jacobs, anyone remember the second coming of Brad McQuaid?

So this is being made, half of it funded at this point, although the backer amount is on the low-side. So far per-backer contribution is very high.
This is both good and bad, since the game isn't showing broad support, just a fanatical one.

Most of the big guild features has been taken already (such as islands).

The crafting/building and the RvR aspects sounded interesting enough.

I'll always have a soft spot for DAoC, although I really don't have time to play MMO's anymore.

700,000 in.a week... Doable, but seems like they will come short.

The 10k pledge looks interesting in that you get to throw fruit pies at MJ

So what's going on with this now... I had a look at the website but doesn't say anything about when it may come out.

Can't really play WoW anymore (I've just played it over too many years) and want an immersive MMORPG game to hook into Smile

Has never been the same since DAoC!

I know exactly how you feel Snaga. I tried to get back into WoW but can not seem to really enjoy it. I've been looking for a Warhammer private server but have not found anything. I really don't want to do the Ultima online thing again either. I'm waiting on ESO . I'm bored ......Help!

Ah - yeah still another couple years. Skah!

War'kob - I feel as though I'm missing some game that I should know about... I never tried Guild Wars 2, or the Star Wars MMO that came out... never heard much good about them. Had a little go at Rift, but just seemed a bit clunky/WoW-rip-off.

And somehow I completely missed Warhammer (!) - but that's dead now.

Will have a look at ESO when it comes out!
