Hmmm - a new studio co-founded by someone who was also a developer on Shadowbane (omg that was so long ago now):

Anyway, thought I would flag this for the Shadowbane old-timers around here. Not just for the interesting message on the website. But also the choice of words - Play To Crush - which was the catchphase for Shadowbane.

They have UO Designer Dragon, aka Raph Koster working on this as well...omg.

The game has leaped to number 1 on MMORPG.com (at least for now).

EDIT: check out the last several days reveals. They will emphasize crafting alongside world conquest. The server worlds will each be unique and travel between them will be possible.

I am likewise burnt on hype. However, consider this opening piece of their FAQ which confirms:

* Crowfall will be a Throne War simulation combining warfare, economics and politics

* the character specialization system sounds very much like Shadowbane, which is good since that means they are tweaking a proven approach; this also confirms that each class will have a role, hence encourage group dynamics

* no levels - advancement is skill-based

* they are doing this for PC (and prolly Mac), so this eliminates the fears of some that the game will get console-hybrid confusing PC controls; I also like the 3D over the shoulder perspective more than first person

We shall see in February with the full reveal. My main fear is that this all turns out to be a Kickstarter roll-out, which will mean several years before anything hits the screen.

However I would be surprised if this is the case. They have some big gun developers working this. And I doubt Raph Koster would have been enticed into something that was Vapor ware.

Today's info dump was pretty spectacular. Their game universe not only will have unique "server" worlds you can travel between, but they will all have different rulesets and rules on what you can transport between worlds. This means something for everyone, including a "dregs" section of the universe where anything goes.

But no, stacking in SB killed it for a lot of people.

Yeah this makes things really interesting. When playing AoC, i always wondered what it would be like if my bear shaman swings could also hit friendlies. Would need to be a lot more careful.

I wonder if AoE spells will have the same effect?

Today's news update states they will be using Voxel Farm, a voxel technology that allows for destructible environments and procedurally-generating new worlds.

The campaign reset mechanic is fascinating. They've definitely learned some lessons from the boom-and-collapse cycle of Shadowbane servers- as soon as one team actually wins the server, the world blows up and everyone gets to start over.

If y'all are that interested and (probably at least two) others are willing, I'll put up 100 of that. I could probably be persuaded for an extra 25 if one person puts up the other half. Then I could just send the money to the other orc. I'm ok with not getting in game credit for this; just willing to help the clan for the sake of helpin the clan.
